NanoCorp checkout webhook: check before delivery

Written 2026-11-02. Published and updated 2026-11-05.

Your buyer reaches a checkout success page. Does that mean you should grant access immediately?

Not by itself. A thank-you page confirms where the browser went, not that your application verified the payment.

The buyer may also close the browser before that page loads. Your delivery must not depend on visiting it.

A webhook is a notification sent to your application after a checkout event. NanoCorp forwards checkout.session.completed to /api/webhooks/nanocorp.

The forwarded notification is unsigned. Treat it as information to check, not automatic proof that the sender is trusted.

This guide separates 3 questions: which order is involved, whether the payment is genuine, and whether delivery already happened.

1. Match the notification to your own order

Before checkout, your application can create an order with an unpredictable reference. Pass that reference as client_reference_id on the checkout link.

When a notification arrives, look for that exact order in your own records. A missing or unknown reference needs review.

Compare the reported amount with the amount expected for that order. Also check currency and whether the notification describes a test.

amount_total uses the currency's smallest unit. Do not confuse cents with dollars when comparing values.

These checks help match information to an order. They do not authenticate an unsigned notification.

An email address is not payment proof either. It helps identify the buyer, but must not replace verification.

Check: Your application can explain which existing order the notification matches and why its reported details are acceptable.

2. Confirm payment separately from order matching

Ask your agent: “What independent evidence confirms this order was paid, rather than merely receiving an unsigned notification?”

Ask them to show the answer. An order reference or a success-page visit is not enough.

NanoCorp's checkout documentation recommends checking high-stakes activity against revenue. Its testing guide points founders to Money or chat when unsure.

A revenue total is useful, but it cannot identify a particular paid order by itself.

For valuable delivery, use independently confirmed payment evidence or manual review. Do not invent a verification service that your application cannot call.

If evidence is incomplete, keep the order pending or awaiting review. Tell the buyer verification is pending, not that payment is confirmed or failed.

Check: You can explain how genuine payment is established before valuable access or delivery is approved.

3. Prevent delivery from happening twice

The same event may be processed more than once. Your application needs protection against repeated delivery.

Ask your agent to demonstrate a repeated notification for the same checkout session in an isolated test.

The result should remain one order, one access grant and one delivery. Existing access should not restart with each repetition.

This is an application safeguard, not a guarantee documented by the platform.

Check: Repeating the same test notification does not create another delivery or extend access again.

4. Keep tests out of your sales count

Use the separate test checkout link in a normal browser. A test exercises the payment flow without moving real money.

The forwarded test notification has livemode: false, verified 2026-11-05. Do not count it as a real sale or proof of customer demand.

A test card belongs on the test link, not the live link. An incomplete automated test is inconclusive, not proof of broken checkout.

Ask your agent to demonstrate how test notifications are excluded from real sales and valuable production delivery.

Check: The test flow works, while your real sales count remains unchanged.

A brief you can send to your agent

Select and copy this review brief. It requests evidence, not a real payment or permission to change customer data.

Review our checkout-to-delivery flow without charging money or changing real customer data.
Show how a notification matches an existing order and how we verify genuine payment independently.
Demonstrate duplicate protection and exclusion of test purchases in an isolated test.
Do not treat an unsigned webhook, buyer email or success-page visit as payment authentication.
Report any missing evidence. Keep valuable delivery under manual review until verification is clear.
